MECN Announces Results of Future of Online Gambling Survey

Consulting firm MECN unveils the result of its most recent survey, "Future of Online Gambling after the Shockwaves". The online gambling industry was critiqued by almost 100 industry experts as they offered their insights on key issues surrounding it at present.

The results show that the online gambling industry is facing a hazy future with the passing of the Goodlatte/Leach bill, also known as the online gambling prohibition act in the US House of Representatives.

Additionally the CEO of online sportsbook BetonSports was arrested by the FBI following the passing of the bill, in what was believed to be an effort to send a strong signal against online gambling operators.

The high courts in Germany have likewise limited the validity of betting licenses, another major upset in the online gambling industry. The short interval by which these events occurred was the cause of major worry over the online gambling world.

As a result, there has been a high demand for more detailed information on how the online gambling industry views the critical issues and what their strategic approaches are. Most of the 100 respondent in the MECN survey are online gambling industry insiders.

The survey showed that 98% of online gambling experts believe that the recent upheaval in the online gambling industry will produce a medium-term impact on the industry. An overwhelming majority of industry experts also believe that the arrest of the BetonSports CEO will only end in problems for the whole online gambling world.

Meanwhile, only 35 percent of the respondents believe that the stock market overreacted to the crisis. A majority of them on the other hand, believe that the most likely immediate effect of the shockwaves will be that planning online gambling IPOs will be in danger of being cancelled or postponed.
